The excellent youth development programme that has produced many fine cricketers, including current England all rounder Andy Flintoff is the result of the hard work of Doug Wilks, the head of junior cricket at the club and his willing helpers.

Doug has been involved with cricket for most of his life and even though his roots and allegiance are Yorkshire based, he has been a welcome member of the club for many years. Even the loss of his legs has not stopped Doug from pursuing his love of the game and the time and effort that Doug puts into the club puts many others to shame.

Doug is also an active member of the Fyldecoast Cricket Society and he still finds time to represent the club as a member of the dominoes team. If Doug ever offers to say a few words, expect to be listening for quite some time, and if you need to ring Doug, make sure you ring off-peak as the call will not be brief!
