The Third XI

3rd XI Player Profiles

2006 - the team just missed out on promotion up to division 3 by a couple of points.

2007 - it was a bad year this year as they got relegated to division 5.

2008 - started very well, winning the first 6 games, the team then lost a couple of critical games and missed out on promotion by a few points.

2009 - HERE’S HOPING WE GET PROMOTED WITH THE SQUAD WE HAVE AND THE EMERGING JUNIORS WE HAVE. . . .

Player Profiles 2009 Season

Paul Williams – Willy

Paul is the current Captain of the side; he has played at the club since he was a junior. Paul is a top order batsman and the wicket-keeper of the side. Paul likes to be the joker of the team, he expects everyone who plays for him to give 200% and never give up . . .

Tim Bernstein – Tiger

Tim is another top order batsman and has played in the side for many years and is the experience head in the side. He has opened the batting for many years and even though he doesn’t score his runs fast, he doesn’t give his wicket away.

Simon Owen – Triple S

Simon is a middle order batsman and has played at the club for a number of years. Simon was a late starter to cricket and has made leaps and bounds in his ability and is an integral part of the side with side fielding skills.

Nick MacKenzie – Macca

Nick is an all-rounder and took the Captains roll in 2007. He has made many valuable runs over the years in some desperate situations. He hasn’t bowled too much in the last couple of years but is always willing to turn his arm over.

Dan Stoneman – Stoney

Dan joined St. Annes in the 2008 season from BAe Warton. He is an opening Bowler who puts the ball on a spot and waits for the batsman to get bored. He is great fielder with bullet arm.....

Andy Jarvis – Javs

Andy joined St. Annes in the 2008 season from BAe Warton. Andy is another top order batsman and won the batting averages in 2008. Andy is good in the field and saves runs every week.

Martyn Burnett – Burnie

Martyn joined St. Annes in the 2008 season from BAe Warton. Martyn is an opening bowler and is a good addition to the side. He bowled well in his first year at St. Annes, he didn’t get the rewards he should have, but hopefully he will in 2009.

Graham Langley – Clubber

Graham joined St. Annes in the 2008 season from BAe Warton. Graham is good change bowler and bowled well in 2008. Graham is full of energy in the field and gives 100% in every game.

Tom Bolus

Tom is an all-rounder in the side and bats in the top order. He returned back to St. Annes in 2008 after a number of years of not playing, he started back in the 4th XI and played a few games in the 3rd XI. No doubt he will make a big impact in 2009.

Nathan Bolus

Nathan is another all-rounder and one of our junior prospects in our U17’s team. Once Nathan is available from school, he plays where-ever and whenever he is asked. He showed a good mental attitude above his age in 2008 and hopefully he can develop his game and become a very good player.

Nathan Armstrong

Nathan is another all-rounder and one of our junior prospects in our U17’s team. Nathan is a very energetic fielder and is very capable at all levels. Nathan didn’t get a lot of opportunity with the 3rd XI in 2008, but every time he did play he showed that he’s going to be a very good player in the future.

Matt Grindley- Grinders

Matt is another all-rounder and one of our junior prospects in the U17’s Team. He is a very versatile player as he showed in 2008, he kept wicket for the U17’s and also in our Sunday League quite often. Like some others he didn’t get much of a chance in the 3rd XI in 2008 but whenever he did play he never let himself or the team down.

Matt Dougall – Spike

Matt has played on and off in the 3rd XI for a number of years now, he hasn’t always been available due to work and injuries. He is primarily a bowler but has scored some valuable runs in some tight situations over the years. Becoming a father in 2009, might make his availability limited.

Jake Sunderland

Jake is a bowler and is one of our junior prospects in the U17’s Team. He is new to the club and has been living and playing in Spain for the last number of years. He has played for the junior ranks at Spain’s national level and now is hoping to push for a steady place in our senior teams.

Ryan Gleeve

Ryan is the 3rd Team scorer and one of our juniors at the club. Ryan started scoring in 2008 and once into the swing of things he went from strength to strength. He particularly enjoyed taking the micky out of most of the senior players especially the Captain.
