Season 2005 - 2006
MATCH REPORTS 3 & 10 NOVEMBER
Twelve points from two matches is a welcome rarity these days and has certainly got the new year off to a flying start.
"DIY ('I can't play first') Man" got us off to a cracking start with a measured victory by 32 points."The Pieman" then did his best to level things out with a facile defeat: the sandwiches staring him in the face did nothing for his concentration - a record ninth defeat is bad news.
"Springer Old" bounced back from a couple of defeats with a comfortable victory and put the aggregate well and truly back in our favour. "Springer New" appeared bound for the knackers yard as his opponent gave him few opportunities and raced into a twenty point lead. However, for once he kept his head and his knackers to win by a point and put us 3-1 up!
"The Pheonix" has had little luck lately and, despite success last week, went down to an opponent who showed little sportsmanship or dress sense.
The last two frames saw a battle of the sexes. First "Stick" gave a good seeing to, to a slip of a lass to put the match beyond our opponents reach. Then "The Supremo" found his old sparkle and touch against the UK's No 2 Woman professional : "Capt Haddock" couldn't decide which was best - a 7-2 win, "The Supremo" back on form or Lynette's positioning on the table!

Player Profiles
SPRINGER OLD
Young but experienced campaigner who has struggled to find his true form in the early part of the season. Has begun to hit the mark again and his confidence is on the up. Asked about the amazing turnaround in his game he claimed "Not having sex on the night before a match has helped me focus much more on important things in life." We'll all drink to that buddy!
SPRINGER NEW
Young but inexperienced campaigner who has blossomed as the season progressed. He is now fulfilling his promise and playing some remarkable snooker. Asked about the amazing turnaround in his game he claimed "Not having sex has helped me focus much more on important things in life." Well there we go!
CAPT HADDOCK
Wily old campaigner who has the unenviable task of keeping the rest of the team under control. Has struck a rich vein of form in the first half of the season maintaining a 100% record. Asked to account for this change of his fortunes he commented, "Thinking about sex all the time is bad for you, so Thursday evenings are a nice change in that respect."
SMILER
Trick cyclists have yet to work out the complexities of this pocket dynamo. Can hold his own - and often does according to his missus - with the best of them when on form. Scaled the heights this month with a cool and calculating victory at Layton.
DIY MAN
Never fails to astound with his tales of kitchens past and present and the complexities of 2 by 4's whatever that means! Has yet to find the consistency he is capable of butr will come good soon.
STICK
Only a youngster in league terms but is beginning to understand the finer points of the game. Has had some tough matches so far but is just about ahead of the pack. By the way, he does a nice line in gas boilers cheap these days.
THE SUPREMO
There is little that hasn't already been written about this giant of the game. Now in his fourth decade of competition, he is surely destined some day to win something with this team. Although his memory is fading and his South Shore market glasses are failing him, he can still stroke with the best fo them.
THERE'S LOVELY MAN
Exuberant and enigmatic, has delighted at times this season with some mercurial snooker. Renowned for his scoring powers and sarcastic witticisms, we look forward to more of both on a regular basis. When asked why he was inconsistent he claimed "Thinking about sex all the time and doing it half the time is enough to make anyone a bit up and down."
THE PIEMAN
The star performer of last year, he has continued to be up with the best this season. Only the odd blip has spoiled an excellent run so far. When asked why he didn't perform perfectly every time he is reported to have commented, "I get worried that that greedy little sheep-sh***er will get all the best sandwiches. It really puts pressure on me and I need my calories if Im ever to become a fat git."
