The Second XI
The St. Annes second eleven play in Division Two of the Northern League.
2nd XI Player Profiles
2004 – The team finished 2nd in 2004, it was another good year for the 2nd XI losing out to Morecambe CC. Andy Kellett was captain in this year.
2005 – The 2nd XI went one better this year and finished Top of the League. This is one of the best years St. Annes had with both 1st & 2nd XI winning there leagues. The 2nd XI went one better again and did the double and wining the second division cup as well.
2006 – The Team didn’t do as well this year and only managed 3rd, but even so it was still a pretty good year.
2007 – The Team yet again finished 3rd in 2007. Another good year all round, with 5 players in the top 25 of runs scored in the league.
2008 – Last year the Team finished Top of the League again. The captain, Andy Kellett was the leading runs scorer in the league by over 200 runs. He was offered the 1st Team Captaincy and took it after thinking it was something he my regret in years to come if he didn’t.
Player Profiles 2009 Season
Neil Bradley – Peel
Peel is a top order batsman. Peel has been a prolific runs scorer over the years, he is also the manager of the U10’s & U13’s ‘B ‘side. Peel has taken over as captain this year, he has stepped in for Andy Kellett before but now it’s permanent.
David Bartholomew – Barty
Barty is an all-rounder, he returned to St Annes in 2003 after playing for Blackpool. His experience is a great asset for the side and also for our junior players. Barty plays for the Lancashire Over Fifty XI during the season, the high-light playing in the final at Lords in 2008.
Dave Watson – Watty
Watty is the wicket-keeper of the side and middle-order batsman. He has played at the club for a number of years and is the practical joker of the side. He can be very intense during the games but he does it with the best intentions. Watty is a very keen Blackpool FC fan holding a season ticket (God knows why.....)
Rick Thomas – Richy
Rick is an opening bowler, and has played for St. Annes for a number of years since joining from Fleetwood. He is a very depend bowler who bowls tight lines, in 2005 he took 9/34 in just 12.2 overs against Preston 2nd XI and last year 8/41 against Lancaster CC. He is a Level 3 ECB coach and was Head Coach at St. Annes for a number of years.
Sean Bickerdike – Bigga/ Biggsy
Sean is an all-rounder and has played for the 1st & 2nd XI over the years. He is a prolific batsman and worries most sides when he walks out to bat. Sean is quite injury prone and has been over the years.
Paul Wilkes – Wilksy
Paul is a top order batsman and has come through our junior ranks. After spending years in the 3rd XI he took his chance in the 2nd XI in 2008, he scored over 400 runs. He scores most of this runs in singles, and is a good fielder and saves runs most weeks.
Gaz Costin –Domino
Gaz is a top order batsman and joined St. Annes in 2007. He Joined from Bae Warton where he was the 1st XI captain. He scored over 600 runs in the 2 seasons he’s been at St. Annes, he is an amazing fielder with a bullet arm (hahaha)..........
Ben Willis
Ben is a bowler and is product of our junior set up, he still plays in our U17’s and will do in 2010 again. He is a very good prospect and has plenty of potential.
Ash Ward
Ash is leg spin bowler and is another good prospect in our Junior section. He took great inspiration from Mansoor Ahmed (our Pro in 2008) and has started bowling very well in the latter half of the 2008 season. He does enjoy wearing a good white cricket jumper, whatever the weather or time of year.........
Nick Jones – Jonesy
Nick is an all-rounder in the side, this will be his first full season at St. Annes CC as he has been at university for the last 3 years. Nick normally played in the 3rd XI when he came back from university, he knocked up 188 in 30 overs in one game.
Luke O’Dea
Luke is a left arm bowler, he played his first full season in 2008 and did well. He now is at university and will be back in mid June to push for his place back in the 2nd XI.
Peter Jackson- Jacko
Jacko is an all-rounder in the side and is another product of our junior section. He is still at university and plays when he gets back in town. He hit 167 in 2008 for the 3rd XI, showing that he can play the game. Jacko has brains coming out of his ears it’s just a shame he never uses them.....
Roger Banks – Banksy
Roger is an all-rounder in the side, Roger has played for us on and off for a number of years and he is the 1st Team captain at Fylde RFC.
