Shane who made his international debut for the Australian Twenty20 team that defeated England in January is to return to St Annes for the 2007 season. Nicknamed "Stickers" Shane was very popular with the players and members at St Annes in 2005 was described by Greg Blewett in TV commentary as, "a country lad who likes the simple things and enjoys the odd fag and a beer".
There have been three reasons gievn for his nickname - the number of tatoos he has(Sky TV commentary), his fondness for paninis (The Guardian) or the number of Stickers on his bag or bat. Which is the true reason? We will have to wait to ask him!
In his first season with St Annes in 2005, he helped the club to their third League Title. Shane is a fast bowler who topped the Northern Premier League bowling averages in 2005 taking 100 wickets at an average of 7.90. He also scored 429 runs at an average of 30.64 in 21 innings. He was re-signed for the 2006 season but after surgery in March 2006 he was forced to withdraw at the last minute.
