This bat was presented by St Annes CC to Mr J Firman in 1872. We have no idea why the bat was presented or indeed who Mr J Firman was. If you have any information about either the bat or Mr J. Firman we would be delighted to hear from you.
The bat is currently owned by Mr Trevor Way of Billericay in Essex and was left to him by his uncle Michael Defriend who spent most of his working life as a senior manager for a sports company in London and who in the course of his work came into contact with many professional and amateur players of all sports but particularly tennis and cricket.
