Jet Diamond - the man Jet Diamond is a cult figure in the St Annes area famous for his karaoke renditions of - well you name it and Jet sings it!
Jet first performed in 1970 in Nottingham where as an apprentice footballer at Nottingham Forest, he played alongside John Robertson and Martin O'Neill amongst others, and after a spell at Walsall he moved to St Annes, where he ended his professional sporting career in nearby Blackpool.
His first public singing performance is thought to have been in the team bath after scoring what has been described by the Bridport Red as
"the most spectacular own goal I have ever witnessed (a crashing drive from the edge of his own box past a startled Jim Barron against
Oxford on New Year's Day 1974)".
Having retired from professional sport Jet started a new career in retail sales providing a range of quality dairy products for many people in the St Annes area with doorstep delivery. It was at this time that his stage career really took off. The growing popularity of karaoke and the availability of a microphone led Jet to the stage on (too) many an occassion. Fans can recall times when "the DJs had to prise the mike from his hands or even just turn the music off" just to get him off the stage - such was his appetite for performance.
His appetite for public performance led to him playing roles in Alladin,
Out of the public glare, it is said that Jet is an extremely private man who rarely leaves his second home at St Annes Cricket Club where Jet has also been known as Aardvark. To protect his privacy we will not disclose that secret identity on this page. Click to see how he is doing in the fantasy league
At a performance at St Annes Lawn Tennis Club in February 2005 Jet stunned his audience by performing his very own tribute to Elvis Presley for the very first time. Dressed in true Elvis style Jet thrusted his pelvis through a medley of his favourite Elvis songs that brought a tear to the eyes of most of the audience.
His repertoire has continued to develop with new identities and acts continuing to come out of the cupboard. Taking part in the 'Stars in their Eyes' event at St Annes Cricket Club in February 2006, Jet revealed two new acts, performing Maggie May as Rod Stewart and Under The Boardwalk as Johnny Moore of the Drifters.
