Gerry Thomas
Coach of the Year 2002 for Wyre Coach of the Year 2004 for Blackpool
Gerry is crickets all rounder, player, umpire and coach. Gerrys early career as a player commenced at Thornton Cleveleys playing for the first team at age 16. The Northern League beckoned, he joined St Annes and on his debut he took five wickets for 18 runs. A career in accountancy meant that cricket was put on the back boiler. At 25 he joined the Association of Cricket Umpires and became a respected and well liked member of the Northern League panel. Having a young family and wishing to plough something back into the game he joined the ECB Coaches Association and has qualified at level 2. He has no nickname that he is aware of!! However in his hockey days (selected for Lancashire) he was known as 'GT', after the sports car as he was sleek, agile and had a good turn of speed. Who would have thought it looking at him now!!
