Wednesday Night 7’s Football
Next Fixture:
Record so far:
Wednesday 21st February 2007
St Annes CC 0 V 3 Cheeky 7
In our first outing for 3 weeks a poor performance saw us go down to a disappointing scoreline. It is true to say we were on the wrong end of some poor refereeing decisions but they could in no way be blamed for the final result. We now re-group for next week.
Wednesday 31st January 2007
St Annes CC 1 v 3 Football Italia
Psycho 21
In a game played against the spirit of fair competition we did extremely well to restrict the result as we did. We turned up to play a normal league game against a team from our own division, but they had arranged for five players from a team in the top division to play for them. Needless to say we struggled to make any real impact and went down 3 - 1.
We found ourselves under pressure for most of the game but did manage to catch the opposition cold at the start of the second half to level the scores through Psycho's powerful drive. We became tired in the later stages but battled on and some good defending and a few saves from Leeso saw us only concede a further two goals.
Wednesday 17th January 2007
St Annes CC 3 v 2 Ashley
Peel 8, 18
Starsky 14
An excellent first half performance saw us go in with a three goal lead. Peel and Starsky struck from close range before Peel scored again following a well worked short corner move that had been honed to perfection on the training ground. A numerical advantage for a short period helped our cause when the late arriving manager Psycho took to the field to give us an eighth man, it's 7-a-side Psycho!!!! Good to see the Gaffer knows what he is doing.
The second half saw us play poorly, come under pressure and again lose our shape. We conceded two poor goals to give us a nervous last five minutes but we held on to keep our unbeaten start to the season intact.
Wednesday 20th December 2006 - 2006 Cup Competition
The cup competition is played over one night with St Annes failing to qualify through the group stages. We were a bit unlucky with the draw having to play our two group games back to back and performed well overall against two teams from the Premiership (we are in the Championship) to come away with a record of won one, lost one.
Vs The 7 Men - Lost 2 - 0
Vs The Headlands - Won 1 - 0 (Psycho)
Wednesday 3rd January 2007
St Annes CC 4 v 3 Mean Machine
Starsky 5, 26
Own Goal 8
Peel 35
A pleasing team performance in our first outing of the new season. We began the game very well and took an early two goal lead through Starsky's cool finish and an own goal. A great double save from Leeso kept our advantage and despite conceding a late goal we went in at half time with a deserved lead. An equalizer came early in the second half through a complete loss of shape and a bit of ball watching. We went in front again through Starsky only to concede again straight from the restart. An end to end finish saw us snatch the points through another good stop from Leeso and Peel's snapshot.
Wednesday 10th January 2007
St Annes CC 2 v 2 Royal Traitors
Scholesy 29
Starsky 36
A hard fought game resulted with honours even. Despite St Annes being behind twice some resolute defending and fine saves from the in form Leeso kept the opposition at bay and we were always looking dangerous on the break. We went in at half time a goal down but managed to equalise through Scholesy midway through the second half only to concede again a few minutes later. We fought back to level late on through Starsky and held on for the last few minutes to achieve a fair draw.
