Eldine Baptiste joined St Annes in 1996 after a spell with Northern league rivals, Kendal. In his first season with St Annes, the club won the Northern Premier League championship for only the second time in the clubs history. He also finished top of the League bowling averages in 1996 with 77 wickets for 866, at an average of 11.24.
