St Annes 3rd team got off to a winning start in a low scoring encounter with Penwortham. St Annes bowled very tidily with some good ground fielding restricting the visitors to only 91 off their 45 overs, 16 year old leg spinner Ashley Ward taking 3 of the wickets to fall. St Annes made the runs required with 5 overs to spare but were indebted to a patient 35 from Paul Wilks early in the innings and 21 from the evergreen Tim Bernstein to see them home.
