St Annes second XI also had a winning start to their campaign at a very cold Darwen ground. The home side batted first and were able to total a competitive 168 for 7 after their 50 overs. The St Annes fielding and bowling were excellent, veteran spinner David Bartholomew finishing with 5 for 29 of his 15 overs and included an impressive spell from 15 year old Ben Willis who was unlucky to finish without a wicket.

St Annes openers Sean Bickedike and captain Andy Kellett made light of the target set and St Annes were able to cruise to victory with 18 overs to spare, Bickerdike hitting 81 and Kellett 62 not out.
