Match Report

Under 10s

At the time of typing this the under 10's have a 100% record this season having won all 3 games.

They have comfortably won 2 home games against Fylde and Leyland.

Against Fylde we reduced them to a score of 180 (remember you start at 200 and lose 5 runs every wicket). Asim Iqbal was the pick of the bowlers with 3 wickets in 2 overs, on debut. In reply we scored 224 to win by 44 runs. Tommy Harrison, Nathan Stamp, Tom Forster and Zak Royle making good contributions.

Next was Blackpool away. We batted first and scored 212. We lost a few silly wickets which kept the score down, Danny Hallsworth and Nathan Stamp joint top scoring and then a final pair sensible unbeaten partnership of 14, knowing no more wickets could be lost, between Thomas Bradley and Scott Holt took us to a positive and ultimately match winning score. Blackpool replied with 207, Michael Smith and Matthew Hunt leading the way with the ball where we took wickets at regular intervals to keep ahead.

Against Leyland we batted and scored 252, only losing 2 wickets and balancing out not losing wickets with keeping the score ticking. All the batsmen chipped in and the running was good. In the field we were excellent, organised and took catches and created run outs. A highlight was a low caught and bowled by Rory Douglas and Thomas Bradley's 3 catches and 2 run outs. All round quite simply a brilliant performance.

Scott Holt has kept wicket well in all 3 games.

An absolutley terrific start, which if I'm honest has pleasantly surprised me, and proof that catching the lads early and teaching the basics as has happened the last couple of years really works.

The lads have been superb. They are visibly improving every week and the enthusiasm and commitment they show make it a pleasure to manage them. If the same level of progress continues over the season we will have found many future cricketers for the club I have no doubt.
