Match Report
Wyre were asked to bat first on an awkward track and although a formidable total looked likely at one point thanks to a classy 47 from last years leading run scorer Mike Alcock, St Annes worked really hard to peg them back. Missing a number of bowlers they were primarily indebted to a great spell from Mick Auty. His return of 6-18 reflected thought and intelligence and he received the usual wholehearted support from Ian Howe(2-39). As usual the fielding was excellent with Graeme Walters taking two fine catches, great work from Matt Grindlay and Luke Wilks and an innings of no extras thanks to keeper Roy Male.
The reply was steady and Auty and Nigel Bernstein(30) started carefully. Nathan Bolus looked in good touch but firm foundations were laid in a disciplined stand between Bernstein and Luke Wilks(13). After they were dismissed the lower order managed to hold out for a deserved losing draw. Steve Rawcliffe with 3-7 off 13 overs and Mike Alcock with 3-31 were the pick of the Wyre bowlers.
Wyre take 9 points. St Annes take 8 points.
