Match Report
St Annes cruised to their sixth win of a weather ravaged season as they ruthlessly brushed aside depleted opposition.
The decision of skipper Tim Rawstron to bowl first on a track bearing a good tinge of green was amply rewarded. Ian Howe again showed the merits of bowling full and straight and enhanced what is already a great season for him with a return of 5-22 in 12 overs. Matt Dougall as usual bowled with great endeavour and Nathan Bolus showed his increasing progress with 2-13. The fielding was sharp with no errors and keeper Luke Wilks conceded no extras. Nathan Bolus clung on to a spectacular one handed catc at cover to dismiss the dangerous Des Nelson. For Comrades, only skipper Ian Condron with 19 and the experienced Steve Lavin(14) made any telling contributions.
The batting reply started badly as Nigel Bernstein was needlessly run out. However, Adrian Speakman (25 no) was joined by Bolus (26no) as they batted impressively and guided St Annes to maximum points.
St Annes take 18 points. Comrades take 1 point.
