Match Report
Both teams had to battle hard on a hot day and another track on which every run had to be ground out. The outfield yielded only one boundary in the entire match.
Batting first, Chris Tyrer Jnr with a classy 24 looked the part until he became yet another victim of the excellent Ian Howe who toiled for 11 overs to thoroughly earn figures of 5-23. he received excellent back up from Martin Wardrop(2-9), Dave Starkey(2-10) and spinner Ashley Ward(1-6). Once again the fielding was of the highest order with five good catches taken.
St Annes replied carefully against a fiery opening attack. Adrian Speakman(22) and Nigel Bernstein(16) showed great restraint and control as they laid a firm base. Although the experienced Mike Hartley and Nigel Connolly both departed cheaply, the sensible approach continued and some forthright blows from Nathan Armstrong brough victory with ten minutes to spare.
St Annes take 18 points. Baxi take 2 points.
