The St Annes and Morecambe 2nd X1 gane is usually a top of the table clash. However with both teams well of the pace this year it was an even bigger game than normal with both teams striving for points to get up the table. St Annes elected to field first. An explosive start by Morecambes leading batter Gulum Maje and then impressive batting by the Morecambe young top order put Morecambe in a good position at around 160 for 2 with 12 overs left. Unfortunately these last overs proved disastrous for St Annes. Morecambe scored another 100 runs due to some good batting but mainly due to some wayward bowling, dropped catches and very bad discipline. Team spirit seemed to wave and it was a very disapointing 1st half to the game. Reg Cupit opened the bowling for Morecambe and bowled very well. St Annes were 70 for 4 when Neil Bradley and John Musgrave got together. Another impressive innings by the in form John Musgrave of 81 not out pushed the St Annes total towards 200 but 260 was too much to ask and St Annes had to settle for another losing draw. A disapointing day.
