Match Report
St Annes lost the toss and were asked to bat first. They made a good start and continued this good start to be just short of 100 for only 1 wicket down at drinks. St Annes then upped the tempo and some fine hitting in the closing overs by PC Johnny Ashworth took the total to 237. A massive 6 off DCI Neil Gregson could well end PC Ashworths police career!
In response Fleetwood made a fine start making nearly 100 for the first wicket in good time. 2 wickets in 2 balls from veteran Dave Bartholomew slowed Fleetwood down. Key batsman Mark Elmsley was the first of the 2 victims going for a fine 65. Fiery bowler PC Ben Dowling then started to take some wickets and the runs dried up somewhat. Dowling in the final over of the match bowled the Fleetwood number 11 and St Annes completed a fine 15 points victory.
That's 2 league wins on the trot for St Annes who have moved up to joint 5th in the league. A MASSIVE game next week at Netherfied will complete the first half of the season.
