Match Report
On a wet ground and wicket St Annes won the toss and decided to field. Inexperienced opening bowlers Peter Jackson and Greg Whitehead bowled well early on, Jacko taking the early wicket of key batsman Mark Richardson. Chorley started to score runs a little easier after a slow start until 4 wickets in 4 balls completely changed the innings. Sean Bickerdike bowling his best spell of the season took a wicket with the last ball of 1 of his overs and then Jacko in his first game of the season took a hatrick. The dangerous Ian Oakes was caught on the boundary, Ross Demming was bowled first ball and then Jackos 3rd victim was caught LBW. Well bowled Jacko. A good last wicket partnership took Chorley up to 133 but it was a very good first half for St Annes. Jacko took 5 for 35.
In reply St Annes lost early wickets and looked in trouble at 60 odd for 6. However Neil Bradley and Dave Hartley put on an excellent 40 before Dave Hartley fell just after drinks. Dave scored an impressive and important 17. The final 3 batsman all came in played their part as St Annes sneaked home with 9 down. Neil Bradley ended up 57 not out. An excellent innings. Well batted Bradders!.
Chorley weren't short of giving plenty of verbals especially after they thought they had Neil caught behind late on. It's all set up nicely for
next weeks 1st round cup match at Chorley. A good win for the seconds who need to keep it up and put a few wins together to get up the table.
