Another disapointing day for the 2nd X1 in what is turning out to be a disapointing season. Lancaster won a crucial toss and asked St Annes to bat. Good early bowling from Lancaster meant that St Annes got off to a slow start and also lost 3 wickets. However 50's from Dave Bartholomew, Gareth Costin and Neil Bradley took St Annes to a respectable 233 for 5 after their 50 overs. Dave Bartholmew top scored with 84 not out.

In reply Danny Welbourne, the Lancaster opening batsman was crucial to the game. He made a quick 60 and got Lancaster of to good start. Heywood scored 75 not out and St Annes lost by 4 wickets with 4 overs to spare. Greg Whitehead the pick of the bowlers with 2 wickets in 2 balls in his second spell.

A disapointing day but hopefully as players return to the 1sts and 2nd teams the fortunes of the 2nd X1 will improve.
