St Annes' commitment and improving form continued with a winning draw against league leaders Darwen. Skipper Duncan 'Biscuits' Whalley won the toss and elected to bat first and his decision was justified as we made an imposing 220 for 6 off 49 overs. The evergreen Adrian 'Bismark' Darlington making 72, Ian 'Bully'Austin 52 and Adam 'Pies' Cotton 40 not out.

With professional Shane 'Stickers' Harwood back from his back injury the St Annes attack showed much more penetration and were able to restrict Darwen to 179 for 8 off their 49 overs. Ben 'Chunks' Dowling and Bully taking three wickets apiece and Stickers two. However, dropped catches in the field again let us down and is an area we need to commit time to at our twice weekly practice sessions.
