Match Report
St Annes came across a good Lytham side who performed well on the day. (Lytham won by 102 runs) St Annes won the toss and elected to field.
St Annes started well with Stuart Walters and Ben Willis causing problems for the Lytham openers. At the fall of the first wicket taking by Stuart Walters it brought Lytham batsmen Ben Perkins to the crease. Perkins demonstrated some powerful hitting and experience beyond the level of under 15's. Perkins only gave 2 sharp chances that were missed by St Annes. Perkins was accompanied by Beaumont and they put on over a hundred for the third wicket. Lytham finished on 172 off their 20 overs (Perkins 53 Beaumont 54) which proved to be a good score on a wet low bouncing track.
St Annes opened the batting with captain Luke Wilks and Nathan Bolus. St Annes started off slowly losing Luke Wilks to a retirement after being struck on the toe from a ball from Perkins. Lytham bowled straighter and used the conditions more effectively as a result St Anne's wickets fell at regular intervals. Stuart Walters batted well before he was bowled for 25 trying match the run rate. Stuart sent members of the crowd dashing out of their seats with two fine whips off his legs for six.
Overall St Annes showed a good attitude to the game but to compete with the top sides need to develop 'cricket brains' which will come with experience.
