Match Report
It is always nice to play at Thornton's picturesque riverside ground and Thornton are always a tough team to beat and so it proved. Thornton, batting first, scored steadily and patiently during their innings and were bowled out on the last ball of their overs. The notable bowling performances were from Greg Whitehead (4-1-8-3) and Ashley Ward (4-0-31-4) and Peter Kenyon chipped in with 2 wickets for 21 runs. Total of 105 was well within the reach of the St.Annes's batters.
St. Annes got off to steady start but lost an early wicket in the second over and from thereon the batters just did not get to grips with the Thornton bowlers. Tom Andrew top scored with 18 and Luke Wilks contributing 10 and Jack Todd (both playing above their age group) contributing a patient 7 runs. St. Annes were bowled out for a disappointing 47 (which included 13 extras).
Man of the Match Award goes to Ashley Ward for a steady spell of bowling.
