Match Report
After last weeks impressive win against Fleetwood, the Under 15's continued their good run of form with another convincing victory against Wrea Green.
St. Annes yet again won the toss and elected to bat first on a good wicket. The opening pair of Greg Whitehead (51 n.o.) and Lewis Williams (52 n.o.) shared an unbroken opening stand, which yielded 69 runs from the first 6 overs bowled.
They continued to play some stylish shots and only when Lewis and Greg had to retire did Wrea Green think that the runs might dry up. But some great batting from Peter Kenyon (23) and Alex Walkden (19 n.o.) set a fantastic total of 150 for 1.
In reply the St. Annes bowlers started well. The opening bowling combination of Stuart Walters and Ben Willis showed the strength in depth that the club has produced over the past few years. With both Stuart and Ben claiming the opening batters in their first overs.
From then on a steady flow of wickets from all eight bowlers used, with Lewis Williams taking 2 wickets and Ben Willis, Stuart Walters and Matt Grindley chipping in with one each. Along with some great catching and fielding from everyone (see lads - Willy's fielding drills are worth the effort!!!), accompanied by some fine bowling from Luke Olsen (2-0-3-4), sealed the victory for St. Annes.
The Man of the Match Award went to Lewis Williams for his 52 not out and 2 wickets for 13 runs off 3 overs.
