Moore & Smalley Palace Shield
Match Report

The under 11's have played 2 games this season against Lytham and South Shore. Unfortunately both ended in defeat but there were encouraging signs in both.

Firstly both games were completed in dreadful conditions with our team having to field in wind and rain and bowl with a wet ball and the lads deserve credit for sticking at it when it would have been easy to give in.

There have been notable performances in both games.

With the ball Mitchell Bolus and Thomas Bradley have formed a decent opening partnership bowilng with accuracy and both taking wickets. Alex Olson, Joshua Lacey and Michael Smith have also bowled well in both games.

With the bat captain Andrew Walkden and Mitchell Bolus have both looked in good touch. They were also both recently selected for the district team and played in 2 games against other districts, as representatives of St.Annes they were complemented for their attitude and performance which is pleasing. Tyler Douthwaite and Scott Little have also shown good potential with the bat, and Tyler also kept wicket well at South Shore.

When you consider most of last years team have gone up to under 13's most of the lads are making their debuts this season and at South Shore 7 of the 10 hadn't played in the team before this season and only one of the team was an actual under 11, the others will still be there next season so this experience will bode well for then.

As some of the regular players return to the team I am hopeful we can get some good results however I feel the result of the match is secondary to the individual players and the team as a whole showing improvements. The fielding is something to be worked on and we will be practicing that and general cricket awareness each week to help that get better.
