St Annes stormed into the semi finals of the Stuart Trophy with this solid, well organised win.
Batting first, St Annes quickly struck a rate of five per over and once again, Paul Wilks stood head and shoulders above everyone else on the field. Although his 72 only contained five boundaries, it spoke volumes for the tremendous running between the wickets in which he got great support from Adrian Speakman(28). a few wickets fell as St Annes tried to accelerate towards the end and it was left to some cheerful blows from skipper Tim Rawstron(14 not out) to bring them to an above par total.
They quickly put Anchorsholme under pressure as Mick Auty used all his experience to turn in a terrific show with 3-7 off his 5 overs. Ian Howe again was threatening but things briefly looked as if they could change in the middle of the innings as Derek Bullen and Phil Corry put on 62. However, the introduction of spinner Joel Harris was the key and he mopped up with 4-6. the fielding again was first class especially Wilks Speakman and Harris and Roy Male looks sharper with each game.
