Match Report

St Annes extended their unbeaten run with this thumping win and once again showed a terrific team ethic.

At 60 for 8, Comrades looked down and out against wonderful bowling from the hugely experienced Nigel Connolly, thoughtful flight and turn from Stuart Aris and another big hearted spell from Mike Harris. But Keeper Steve Pope and Steve Troy put together a valuable stand that St Annes found tough to break. However, they stuck at their task and Adrian Speakman and Paul Wilks were especially notable in the field. Keeper Roy Male looked sharp.

The reply was superb to watch. Paul Wilks whose reputation as a most effective opener continues to blossom was in prime form. Light and quick on his feet, he timed the ball perfectly and ran between the wickets in the most positive way. The ever reliable Nigel Bernstein was the perfect partner and he was most unlucky to fall narrowly short of an undefeated fifty.

St Annes take 17 points to Comrades'2.
