Match Report

St Annes remained unbeaten after this creditable winning draw against the league champions.

Asked to bat first, they were given a terrific start of 74 by Nigel Bernstein and Paul Wilks, but after Wilks' departure two wickets fell in quick succession to the excellent Steve Johnrose. The damage was repaired by an entertaining but responsible stand of 55 between Nick McKenzie and young Peter Kenyon. Sadly, St Annes failed by one run to gain the third batting point.

St Joseph's, missing two front line batsmen, looked to settle for the draw from the start against some excellent tight bowling in a very strong wind. Ian Howe and Mike Harris bowled especially well and the fielding again was sharp with Wilks outstanding.

Each team takes 7 points.
