Match Report

On another hot day and with a team devastated through club call ups and injuries and absences, St Annes on the end of a thorough thrashing.

Deciding to bowl first, they made a tight start through Dave Starkie and Mike Harris, restricting Wyre to 13 runs off the first 12 overs. The fielding and catching remained pretty good throughout the subsequent onslaught but apart from a fine spell from Seve Hirst, the other bowlers all proved costly. With only one recognised batsman and John Dougall returning from injury after a 2 year absence, the inexperience was all too clear to see and apart from a few hearty blows from Greg Whitehead, they had no answer to Steve Ratcliffe.

Wyre take 18 points to St Annes' 1.
