Match Report

After a washed out game last week, the boys we're looking forward to playing on the main square while the First XI & Second XI didn't have matches.

St Annes won the toss and stuck the opposition in to bat and with the second ball of the game Andy Taylor struck to dismiss A Lawson. Andy bowled 16 overs on the bounce and ended up with figures of 2-45 off the 16. Dave Hartley didn't bowl all that well but picked up 4-31 of 10 overs with Paul Williams catching 2 behind in 3 balls. Dave also got the better of the opening batsmen M Richardson (27) who nicked the ball to Paul Williams. Nick McKenzie bowled well and picked off the tail 2 bowled and 1 stumping from Paul Williams.

St Annes fielded well taking all catches and Paul Williams claiming 5 victims.

In reply St. Annes got off to a bad start losing Matthew Purcell without scoring, Tim Bernstein made 16 before giving it away. Dave Hartley batted sensibly for 28 before chipping it to point and Paul Williams 22 as well until he pulled a ball straight up in the air to mid-wicket. Simon Owen also made a score of 16 until Dikinson bowled him middle stump. Matthew Dougall then ran Graham Tindall out to leave St. Annes 9 down and needing 14 from 4 overs. He took the game and the bowlers by the scruff of the neck and finished 35 not out, winning the game for St. Annes.
