Match Report

St Annes deservedly continued their winning run and their climb up the table in spite of losing three front line players from Tuesday's original selection.

Run scoring was always difficult on a track where Fleetwood maintained a tight line and extracted some bounce. After the ultra consistent Nigel Bernstein had been dismissed and Vijay Chandrasekhar was bowled shortly after, Nigel Connolly joined opener Adrian Speakman and compiled an unbeaten stand of 88. They showed great patience but punished the bad balls and ran well between the wickets.

Fleetwood briefly threatened after the openers had been dismissed with 9 on the board but St Annes showed patience as three tough chances were shelled and a run out opportunity was missed. Ian Howe again maintained a superb line in a testing spell of twelve overs and the prolific Mike Harris snared another six wickets in an intelligent spell up the hill.

St Annes take 17 points to Fleetwood's 1.
