St Annes asked Wyre to bat first on a track that was low, flat and still slightly damp.
Ian Howe was by far and away the pick of a hard working bowling attack with his first 8 overs yielding only six runs. Matt Dougall bowled with customary big heartedness and deserved better returns. Overall, though, there was very little for the bowlers and Wyre batted their full allocation of overs in an effort to shut out St Annes' strong batting line up.
Openers Nigel Bernstein (34 not out) and Mick Auty (25) never looked in trouble until Auty was trapped in front by a low shooter. Paul Wilks then came in to bat with enterprise and fluency for an undefeated 32 but a total of 33 overs faced gave St Annes little chance of forcing a win.
Wyre take 8 points to St Annes' 6.
