Match Report

St Annes cruised through this limited overs cup match against opponents with a hard hitting top order.

Their game plan of not opening the bowling with their usual openers and employing a spinner to take the pace off the ball worked to perfection as Mick Auty and Paul Wilks reduced them to 30 for 6. Wyre's fate was further sealed by a succession of over ambitious shots and Matt Dougall clinically mopped up the tail. Once again the fielding was superb throughout and skipper Tim Rawstron is delighted at the excellent spirit that is making the team perform as a real unit.

Openers Auty and Bernstein should have seen off the modest target without being parted but Auty left to a controversial run out decision when only three runs were required. They both batted in a pleasing untroubled way.
