Match Report

A superb performance saw the thirds record victory at Eccleston. Put into bat Tim Bernstein and Skipper Matt Purcell laid a solid foundation putting on 49 before Bernstein was trapped LBW. A flurry of wickets reduced St Annes to 71-5, before Graham Tindall (20no) and Simon Owen (18) steadied the ship with a partnership of 40 for he 6th wicket.

In the field Andy Taylor (0-30) and Dave Hartley ((0-9) both bowled impressive but luckless spells with the new ball, repeatedly beating the edge of the openers bats. The introduction of Matt Dougall (1-19) proved the turning point as first Schofield was run out off a no ball then Cater was caught and bowled.

Stuart Aris (6-18) bowled with characteristic flight and turn to run through the Eccleston middle order, well supported by Seve Hirst (2-15). Two superb catches from Andy Taylor inspired the fielding performance and St Annes had won by a comfortable 31 runs.
