Match Report

The thirds avenged their defeat from earlier in the season with a fine performance at KGS. Fudd won the toss and asked TC to bat on a drying wicket which made batting difficult. Nick Jones and Graham Tindall did the damage with fine spells of seam bowling, Reykjavik finishing with 4-28 in his first league game of the season.

In reply the St Annes openers battled it out with both Bernstein and Fudd wearing blows from the seamers. As the bowlers tired batting became easier and the opening pair were parted at 61 with Fudd scoring 42 containing just 2 boundries, the only ones of the innings.

A slight wobble ensued with both Bernstein and Mike Hartley LBW for 24 and 10 respectively, and then the unlucky Paul Williams was caught and bowled as the missile he struck was somehow held by the bowlers stomach. It was left to Simon Owen to push the winning run through point and gain another 13 points for the thirds.
