| Match Report
A terrific all round team performance saw St Annes through to the next round of the Wareing Trophy, although they left it late with the winning runs coming with one ball left.
Asked to bowl first, they contained Fleetwood with some tight bowling and tenacious fielding. Tim Rawstron used six bowlers and they all responded superbly with Mike Harris taking the major honours with 6/31. Arshad Javed and Mick Auty bowled with great control and Tom Heap deserved his 2/29 after an expensive first over. Liam Bell was outstanding in the field as he willingly covered nearly every blade of grass.
Fleetwood started their bowling reply with a rash of wides and so Mick Auty (13) and Nigel Bernstein (52) effortlessly put on 42 for the first wicket. Vijay Chandrasekar (17) was not his usually fluent self and the asking rate started to rise. Arshad Javed and the big hitting Gary Woods both went cheaply and risks started to be taken as Mike Harris and Tim rawstron were run out. However, 'keeper Adrian Speakman with 9 not out held firm and the deserved win was complete.
