| Match Report
A vast number of unavailable players meant that skipper Tim Rawstron had to perform minor miracles to field a side for this opening fixture of the season.
However, the ten players failed to muster a decent score on a slow track with wickets regularly falling to poor shot selection. Rawstron entered the fray at 26 for 5 and compiled a vital 21 in which he mixed aggression with unnatural (for him!) defence. Matt Dougall gave good support before holing out on the edge and young Simon Hurst hung around grittily at the end.
Appalling weather proved no help to the bowlers in the reply as the ball grew increasingly wet. Tom Heap was the pick with 2/26 in 8 overs and Matt Dougall bowled with real fire and effort. Simon Hurst pouched two outstanding catches in the deep.
