Matt Dougall's huge six over mid wicket gave St Annes their first win of the season and relieved some tension created first by Vijay Chandrasekar's shoulder dislocation when he was looking dangerous on 17 and then the loss of two quick wickets without loss. Once again the innings was underpinned by the prolific Nigel Bernstein with a faultless 35 after Mick Auty had given matters a bright start with 13.
Earlier, skipper Tim Rawstron won the toss and had no hesitation in deciding to field first on a bowling-friendly track. His bowlers did him proud- mostly Mike Harris (6-21) and Arshad Javed (3-14 in 9 overs). Dougall had little luck with 1-10 in 6 overs but clung on to two super catches whilst Bernstein topped that with three stunners in the gully. Once again, Liam Bell was in top form in the covers.
