Match Report
Faced with four last minute cry-offs, skipper Tim Rawstron's efforts in assembling a full eleven were hugely rewarded with a thumping win. The team was well fired up and every player gave a great hearted show on one of the hottest days of the year.
Batting first, Vijay Chandresekar and Nick Lees were quickly dismissed but John Dougall continued his purple patch of form with a smooth 35. Nigel Connolly struck an aggressive 20 before being unluckily fired LBW and young David Hartley blasted an invaluable18. The real cornerstone was Mick Renshaw who, after providing last minute cover, produced another vintage knock of 49. He was unlucky to missout on his fifty and maximum batting points for the team when he was bowled trying to reach the milestone in style.
The bowling reply was red hot. David Hartley tore in conceding a mere 7 runs off his frist 6 overs whilst Tom Heap, bowling better than ever, was in prime form for 3 for 7 off 9 overs. Peter Jackson produced 5 fiery overs and fine figures of 3 for 10 whilst the remaining wickets were mopped up by Nigel Connolly and Liam Bell. Hartley rounded off a super all round show by holding two smart catches and pulling off a good run out. St Annes are now unbeaten in five and take 17 points to Anchorsholme's 3.
