| Match Report
Ring rustiness sadly undermined a hard working performance by St Annes in their opening fixture and on a slow, low pitch that grew harder to bat on.
After an unlucky but hostile opening spell when three chances were spilled, Srikanth Tummapalli tore back to thoroughly earn his figures of 6-46. Nigel Connolly as ever provided a searching spell whilst Mick Auty and Nick Lees both bowled well.
Run scoring was never easy in the reply and no one ever really came to terms with the pitch- Mick Auty, John Dougall and Nick Lees being the only ones to double figures. However, wickets fell regularly and it finally fell to skipper Tim Rawstron and Tom Heap to bat out for over half an hour to save the game. They lasted for all but the last 16 balls when Rawstron was bowled off an inside edge.
