Match Report

St Annes stretched their unbeaten league run to four with this comprehensive win over Blackpool.

Skipper Tim Rawstron had no hesitation in deciding to bowl first on the most unpredictable of wickets and this initially looked wrong as the Blackpool openers piled up 53 against a mixture of unlucky and very ordinary bowling. Tom Heap(3-16 in 9 overs) and Nigel Connolly(2-9 in 5)quickly changed things round and got good support from Mick Auty. The innings was clinically polished off by young bowlers Peter Jackson(2-7)and David Hartley who got his deserved luck in his second spell to finish with 2-31.

Runs were never easy to score on this track but with openers Auty and Chandrasekar both gone for 24, John Dougall(36 not out)and Nigel Connolly(41 not out)used all their vast experience to initially consolidate and later take complete command as they guided St Annes to a well deserved win.
