Match Report
St Annes were once again frustrated by the weather having piled up a menacing total only to see Blackpool fail to face a ball in reply.
Mick Auty and James Atherton launched the innings with an entertaining stand of 70 before Auty was run out for an unselfish 13. Atherton then went on to resist the effects of a heavy cold as he unfurled a further array of sumptuous strokes to reach 81- being most unlucky not to notch his hundred. This was a hugely mature knock for this talented young King Edward's player and boded well for the future.
No less valuable was the effort of Roger Hughes whose undefeated 50 was just reward for this big-hearted performer. His pugnacious knock contained seven fine fours and a six and after a final flurry with Nigel Connolly (11 not out), skipper Tim Rawstron was in the prosperous position of being able to declare the innings in the hope of a telling reply. But then the rains came!
