Match Report
St Annes hard work and battling qualities earned them a draw against the runaway league leaders.
A superb opening spell from Nigel Connolly saw them reduced to 18-3 and although the damage was repaired by an unbeaten ton from Ian Newman, St Annes never gave up in hot conditions. Tom Heap again bowled well and young spinners Paul Wilks and Steve Hirst showed good promise for the future.
In the reply, openers Wilks and Roger Hughes quickly departed and with Connolly out at 29-3, staunch efforts were needed. They came in the form of keeper John Dougall with a disciplined 37 and young Nick Jones whose unbeaten 15 spanned over 20 overs.
Postal take 9 points for a winning draw against St Annes' 5 for a losing draw.
