Match Report

Late enforced changes and depleted numbers were a factor but St Annes still performed poorly as they were comprehensively swept aside by last seasons champions.

Amol Chitre showed considerable promise on his debut as an opener but the other "big guns" failed to fire with Nigel Connolly on the end of an appalling LBW decision. Only Vijay Chandresakar on his welcome return to the club made any impression and he was left undefeated with a sensible 33 not out.

Connolly bowled beautifully without any luck and saw a clear chance put down behind the wicket. The fielding was sadly pedestrian but Mick Auty pouched a high, tough chance to give St Annes their only success. Skipper Tim Rawstron will be looking for a much improved performance next week against Blackpool with greater concentration and application with the bat.
