Match Report
St Annes matched the glorious conditions with this comprehensive and thumping win against the second in the league.
Asked to bat first, openers Mick Auty (24) and Paul Wilks (14) looked in no trouble as they effortlessly posted a stand of 38. After they both fell to lbw decisions, a truly superb stand developed between Manohar Malla and keeper John Dougall. Together they raised 203 runs in 30 overs with Malla's 112 containing 17 fours and a six whilst Dougall was in great touch for his undefeated 75.
When they bowled and fielded, everyone contributed and Tim Rawstron's bowling chanes all worked. Young Peter Jackson again showed rapidly growing improvement for his 2-9 in 8 overs whilst young spinner Paul Wilks showed excellent control whilst earning 3-25 in 12 overs. Nigel Connolly was pure vintage for a terrific 4-16 and all bowlers were supported by a tigerish show in the field.
St Annes take 18 points to Anchorsholme's 1.
