| Match Report
In glorious conditions, St Annes were guilty of giving their opponents too good a start and hard though they worked, their aggressive batting yielded a formidable total.
Tom Heap and Andy Delaney fully earned their two wickets each but the pick of the bowlers was young Peter Jackson. Making his senior debut, he took 3-17 in an assured spell. Fellow junior Paul Wilks offered good support with 1-15. Roger Hughes held two fine catches.
Hughes with a spiky 38 and young James Atherton with a polished 20 gave the St Annes reply a good start and this was continued with a hearty 24 from Nigel Connolly. However, wily veteran Les Archer strangled the innings with an unplayable 6-19 in 14 overs. Only Peter Jackson with an aggressive 25 and Dave Gubbins, 10 not out, kept them out and defeat sadly came with 2 overs remaining.
