Match Report
St Annes roared back from their losing run in great style with this most emphatic win against struggling Anchorsholme "A."
Mick Auty took the honours as he gave further weight to his growing all-rounder status. Not content with blasting out the top order and reducing them to 23 for 5, he bowled with great sense and thought to fully earn his 4/25 and pouch three good catches. Tom Heap rolled back the years with another big-hearted show to finish with 3/28 in 12 successive overs whilst crucial support came from Mick Kelliher (1/10) and young Martin Robinson who generated some real pace in his debut bowl for a senior team and grabbed 2/12.
But this was still to be Auty's day. Shrugging off an achilles injury and finally having to bat with a runner, he fell agonisingly short of a maiden senior fifty at 49 not out. The vastly experienced Derek Dearden built the reply with him and looked in fine shape for his 25 not out.
This should put St Annes in great heart for their semi-final replay against Blackpool. They take 16 points to Anchorsholme's 1.
