| Match Report
The fourths could not have been harder hit at the start of this long, humid afternoon. Already shorn of three regular bowlers, Tom Heap limped off injured after two overs and Micahel Baer was not able to bowl until near the end of the innings due to his late arrival.
However, another huge-hearted effort from Roger Hughes ensured that Comrades had to battle. Bowling unchanged up the slope, he reeled off twenty overs and deserved even better than his 6-86. Peter Jackson was also out of luck in ten fierce overs and Andy Broadbent gave useful support. The fielding was top class and spirited with Broadbent and Adrian Speakman outstanding.
The batting reply was quickly decided by the changing nature of a quirky track and where the top was starting to loosen. A long and watchful effort from Hughes (28) ensured safety and when time was called for poor light, Nigel Connolly was in complete charge with 15 not out.
St. Annes and Comrades each take eight points.
