| Match Report
Although the result was disappointing for St Annes on a most difficult track, there were plenty of positive points to be taken from the game- especially the performances of all the young players and the continual excellent spirit throughout the team.
Blackpool were clearly rattled by a fierce opening spell from Paul McCabe and he added to his fine figures of 4/20 with two neat catches. James Atherton, Paul Wilks and Peter Jackson also bowled well sharing four wickets and Wilks pouched three stunning catches in the gully. Tom Heap brought all his experience to bear later in the innings with a miserly 2/8.
The batting reply was sadly less good. After opener Mick Auty was out to a strange decision, the later batsmen struggled to come to terms with the wicket and all fell to smart catches in the slip cordon. Wilks showed his usual determination as he and skipper Tim Rawstron- whose top score of 12 spanned over 40 minutes- ensured a batting point was gained.
