| Match Report
The sheer intensity of St Annes' team performance kept them in the driving seat throughout this cup replay and rightly earned them a place in next week's final.
Having elected to field, skipper Tim Rawstron's bowling changes were answered magnificently. Nigel Connolly and Paul McCabe contained Blackpool to 11 runs in the first 10 overs and were given top support from Tom Heap, Mick Auty and David Hartley. Heap (3/15)was the pick as he rolled back the years with eight great overs of swing and control and further support came in the form of excellent catches from Connolly, Atherton and Wilks. The sharpness of their performance was personified by two fine run-outs.
The batting reply started unpromisingly when Derek Dearden was bowled without scoring. Mick Auty was again not found wanting as he defied injury to graft a sound 21. Although the prolific Connolly and Roger Hughes both suffered relative failures, Paul McCabe batted quite beautifully. Mixing aggression with watchful care, he compiled a crucial 64 before his unfortunate dismissal near the end. However, John Dougall (16no) showed great coolness to guide them home.
